Let me first begin by tell you that this is the biggest and most in your face slam on President
George W Bush that has ever hit the Big Screen.  Even those who tend to be more on the
left side of things know that Fahrenheit 911 was totally bogus and the facts did prove out in
the media.  However American Dreamz plays out on every single stereotype that has
effected the Presidents career.  It is a slanderous and totally and completely wrong and mis-
characterization.  The president in office in American Dreamz is a man who believes that
God put him in office, cannot spell, who reads the newspapers to find out what is going on in
the world, and someone who is told everything to say by his vice president.  To top things
off, he is a man who is completely and totally incapable of being in office, and someone who
just wanted to be president to show his father than “any idiot could make it into the white
house”.

American Dreamz takes place right after President Joseph becomes president and is now in
hiding, refusing to get out of bed.  His incredibly supportive wife and vice president who is
played by non other than William Dafoe are both trying to help him get his morale up.  They
decided to talk the President into taking some “happy pills” which are the depression
medication that his wife takes.  Eventually after 3 weeks in hiding, his job approval numbers
below 30% and the country in the middle of a war in Iraq, he decides to reach out to the
American public.  He decides to go on as a guest judge on American Dreamz, which is
almost an exact mock of American Idol.

Little does the President know, that there is a terrorist plot to hill him while he is on stage at
the final round of the show.  The terrorist is to become a contestant on the show, make it to
the last round and then blow himself up while shaking the presidents hand.

Hugh Grant plays the ultimate slam on Simon Cowell of the American Idol series.  Hugh Grant’
s character is the self absorbed, truth telling, slim bag that everyone hates to love.  However
this portrayal takes everything to the next level and attempts to destroy Simon’s TRUE
reputation.

Sadly the portrayal of everything in this movie works, and its one of the funniest movies of
the year.  Being a conservative, I was totally disturbed by the portrayal of our Commander
and Chief, however I could not help be get engrossed into the movie.  The movie is superbly
casted, well written and mocks Fox, the President and American Idol effetely.

On a political level I would have to give this movie 0 stars, for being total crap.  However as
far as movie making goes, I would have to give this 3.5 stars for being effective in its
purpose as totally leftist movie that engages the audience and makes you laugh the whole
time.
