I interviewed the director (Steven Simon) and writer (Neale Donald Walsh) of Conversations with God about
a month ago.  We had a great discussion about personal faith and belieft in God.  During out discussion I
made it incredibly clear that I am a believer in Jesus Christ and please know that I do not condone the
spiritual content in this movie whatsoever.  I believe that the content in this movie is without a great
deception and dead wrong.

I did learn something from the two men that I interviewed however.  Many would call their belief a cult, and I
would actually no argue with that assessment, however I do want to give credence where credence is due.
Conversations With God did bring to light a subject that Christians needs to really start wondering about.  If
those in the world believe that they can have a conversation with God, then why arent Christians being
more proactive about re-discovering our relationship with Jesus Christ.  I think about Enoch who desired to
talk to God every day, even to the point where the Lord took him home in the same fashion.  We have the
one and only true God, yet the body of Christ settles for a distant figurehead that they do not want to reach.
Maybe it is because they do not want to turn from their secret sin, maybe they want to continue walking a
line of compromise and maybe its just the fact that God is more of a "personal" choice.  Regardless
Christians as a whole are becoming more mainstream, instead of Godstream.  We go to "seeker friendly"
mega churches, so they can get lost in the crowd and then we go live a life that we consider "good" instead
of Godly.

When a movie like this comes out, it makes me sad and it hurts because I know that the belief is so wrong
and so contrary to the Word of God.  It makes me even more sad because, they do not know better, but we
do.  Knowing that they desire to fill that void and desire to have a "personal" relationship with God is
encouraging to me and I hope that one day, that they will come to understand the difference between a
conversation with "GOD" and a conversation with "god".  I have read what Neale Donald Walsh believes and
I would disagree with every single point he makes, however I honor a man who strives to understand God
more and a man who strives to have a personal relationship with God.  It is heartbreaking to know that he a
relationship with the wrong God.

I am not going to do what many Christians have written me and asked me to do.  To launch scathing attacks
at the writer.  I think that would be a horrible example of Jesus Christ.  I will however point out the fact that I
could not disagree more with the god he believes in.  I will not condone the content and I would not suggest
that someone who is not spiritually mature to see the movie.  However I do think that this movie could be
used as a ministry tool to show what the "world" is striving for
and how we as believers have direct access to the one true God who loves us so much.  However,
relationship requires TRUE committment to Jesus Christ.

About the Movie:

Conversations with God is written by the best selling author Neale Donald Walsh about a man who believes
that faith of the old days with Jesus and the Cross is gone and a new God has arisen.  The belief that God
is in all humanity and can be anywhere good is found, where love is found and where self is found.  The
movie is about Neale' search for God and about how god speaks to him directly when he crys out one night.
The movie follows his journey to self discovery and through some of the trials and tribulations he went
through.  The movie also delves into what he believes and he does preach his faith of humanity pretty hard.
However the main emphasis of the movie is about how anyone can have a conversation with God and have
a direct relationship with "it".  It appears that Neale is more of a humanist and panthist.

The movie has some mild language and some sexual subject matter that is very subtle.  I especially liked
how the movie protrayed the homeless community and the sensivity yet realistic approach to their lifestyle.
The directing in this movie was incredibly passionate and you can see this around every corner of the
movie.

I am not going to rate this movie based upon stars as usual because it is a different kind of movie, but I will
say that the movie was passionataly made, I was sad at the deception that I saw happening, but honestly I
was more sad because there are so many that do not understand that Jesus Christ wants to have a
relationship with them and like the movie says, you just need to cry out.

Again:  I cannot recommend this movie, but it could be a great ministry tool.  It is a great conversation piece
and should encourage you to really reach out to the Lord.  If Steven and Neale are as passionate as I know
them to be, then we should be even more so when we have access to the one true God.
