| Departed is without a doubt one of the best worst movies of the year. Filled with lots of action surrounding a modern day mafia led by Jack Nicholson, this story never loses pace or steam. Once you sit down you are immediately drawn into each and every character in the movie. We have an all star cast including Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Walberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Alec Baldwin and the list goes on. The acting is incredible; the story is awesome game of cat and mouse. Departed is about a young police hopeful (Leonardo DiCaprio) that cannot pass the exam but he does fit in as the perfect spy into the most corrupt mafia in the city. He partners along side of Mark Walberg and Martin Sheen to infiltrate the underground racket led by Jack Nicholson. Quickly DiCaprio finds out that there is one or more leaks in the police force that is revealing every move he makes. DiCaprio must save his own life while he brings down the mob. You can expect a flood of well deserved Academy Award nominations with Jack Nicholson as the top contender for best supporting actor and Leonardo DiCaprio for best Actor. You will probably also see best screenplay, directing, picture and possibly more. On the complete flip side, I cannot recommend this movie. This movie is filled with the most amount of language I have ever heard in my life. Personally, although I do not like the F Bomb, I do tend to tolerate it. However the F Bomb is the mildest of the words that are said on a habitual basis. They use the Female and Male anatomy as the word of choice when yelling at someone. Both “C” words are everywhere. If they tell someone they are going to kill them, they do not day “I am going to kill you”, they say something like, I am going to cut off your head and then perform some kind of sexual act in the process. It is vile and vulgar all the way around. I almost walked out because of the language. I am sorry for being somewhat graphic, but I want you to really understand the magnitude of the foulness of the language. It is so far over the top and so incredibly convicting. Parental Warning: TONS of foul and sexual language, sexual reference, mild nudity and tons of violence. |
