Lucky Number Slevin is the story of a man in the 60s who is an avid gambler.  One day, while
he is making a quick stop at the local race track, he leaves his son in the car while he checks
out one last race. A race for which he has taken out a huge loan. A race that is supposed to
be fixed.  A race he was supposed to have won. Not being able to pay back the debt, the
new gangsters in town decide to make him and his family an example to the rest of the
community and they murder every single person in the family.  Skipping forward 20 years, we
now have a hit man (Bruce Willis) who is hired to do a job, 2 mob bosses (Ben Kingsly and
Morgan Freeman) who are at odds with each other, and another man (Josh Hartnett) who is
caught in the middle of it all when one day he is mistaken for a man named Nick. Lastly, a
"Columboesque" neighbor (Lucy Lu) who is trying to help the would-be "Nick" solve the
mystery of who Nick is.  Out of fear of revealing too much, I am going to stop here. Let's just
say, it gets better.

I have to admit that bringing together a cast with Bruce Willis, Josh Hartnett, Ben Kingsly and
Morgan Freeman is an amazing feat in itself.  Not only is the acting in its perfect best, but the
writing and wit is amazing.  I mean come on, how many times do you have a non-conflicted
Rabbi Mob Boss with a gay son?  The writers try hard to exaggerate the characters but they
somehow still remain true.

Lucky Number Slevin is an amazing story full of twists and turns, comedy, suspense and just
enough violence to keep the audience engaged.  It's like watching a combination of
Columbo, The Godfather, and a classic Film Noir.

The true shining star in this movie is Bruce Willis, again proving that he is not only an action
stud but an actor who is clever and magnetic.

That said, there are two completely unnecessary sex scenes that are very quick yet graphic.
There isn't a ton of foul language but there is some, and the violence is pretty graphic, but
realistic and not overdone.  I cannot recommend this movie from a moral perspective at all
however if you are looking for a movie with some garbage but a great plot and a lot of fun,
then this movie fits the bill.

Warning to Parents:  2 quick sex scenes with nudity, graphic violence and some language.
Again, I cannot recommend this movie from a moral perspective but I did have a great time.  I
was just bummed that they had to toss in those completely unnecessary scenes in the
beginning of the movie.  This would have been a 4 star movie if the writers hadn't tried to
spice it up with sex.
