The 2006 remake of “The Pink Panther” is one of those movies that you will see, laugh at, and
forget about.  Steve Martin reprises the character of Inspector Clouseau from the classic Peter
Sellers movies of the same name.  Steve Martin was actually a perfect fit to replace Sellers and
delivers a performance reminiscent of the work that originally propelled him to fame.
Pink Panther is the story of clumsy and moronic Inspector Clouseau who has been put on the case
of the murder of a world famous soccer coach whose priceless “Pink Panther” diamond was also
stolen at the same time. Clouseau, thinking he has been chosen as the best man for the job, is only
on the case to throw things off track so that another inspector has time behind the scene to solve it
himself. Intertwined in the plot is a over zealous Chief Inspector (Kevin Kline), a beautiful pop star
(Beyonce Knowles), a faithful sidekick (Jean Reno), and a romantic entanglement (Emily Mortimer).
The ensemble cast is really what makes this movie work as well as it does. Their interactions with
one another make it appear that they are genuinely having fun making the movie.

The cast is great, the script strong and even the directing is right on par, however the movie is still
just run of the mill comedy and forgettable. I was somewhat bored for the first 30 minutes, then I was
laughing quite a bit until the end, but I was left kind of blasé.  To be fair to the movie, I am not really
a fan of this kind of humor. The Pink Panther is kind of a combination of The Naked Gun meets
Columbo. Personally I love Columbo but I detest The Naked Gun, and therefore my review reflects
that prejudice.
If you are a fan of the older movies or The Naked Gun, then you will most likely enjoy this movie. If
not, then stay home and save the $10.

Warning to Parents:
This movie is rated PG but should have been PG-13 for MANY off-color jokes and references. I
would not let my kids watch this movie, nor do I even feel it is really appropriate for some teens.
There is no foul language in the movie but the sexual jokes are over the top, and Beyonce Knowles
shows more cleavage than should even be legal. The rating is completely wrong.
