Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause 2 of 4 Stars
MPAA Rating: G for General Audiences
Starring: Tim Allen, Elizabeth Mitchell, Judge Reinhold, Wendy Crewson, Eric Lloyd Directed by: Michael Lembeck
Santa Clause 3, the Escape Clause is the 3rd and certainly not the last in a long line of successful holiday movies for the whole family. The Santa Clause 3 follows suit in being a perfectly fine holiday movie for all ages and sure to leave with you with a smile on your face by the end of the movie. This second sequel is not the best in the series but its still enjoyable nonetheless.
The Santa Clause 3 takes place when Santa and Mrs. Clause are about to have a baby, but Mrs. Clause is missing time with her parents during such a momentous occasion. Santa understands that having her family near is something very important so he decides to bring her parents home for the Holidays, to the North Pole, while keeping everything a secret at the same time. All the while Jack Frost played by Martin Short is conspiring to take over Santa's job by conning Santa into using the "Escape Clause" in a moment of weakness.
The Santa Clause 3 is a fun movie but it tends to kind of wander off at times. It starts to lose steam about half way through by repeating the same thing over and over again. I was also down right embarrassed by the last 10 minutes because it was so totally hokey. However the movie does keep it together enough to let you just kind of sit back and enjoy the holiday season. Jack Frost absolutely steals the show by playing Jack Frost and he was a pleasure to see back in his classic comedic form.
This is a totally fine movie to let your kids see and is rated G because there is really nothing bad in the movie what so ever. I really enjoyed the father image of Santa and the fact that he loved his family with everything in his heart. He was not a jerk like many father images are these days and the relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Clause was great. The only thing that might make your kids ask questions is the fact that Tim Allen has a great relationship with his Ex Wife and her husband. They actually spend the holidays with everyone at the North Pole. Needless to say, this is not the norm and if your kids come from a broken home, then they may have questions.
Parental Warning: Strong family values, no dirty jokes and absolutely no foul language.
