Directed by:
Todd Phillips

School for Scoundrels is the story of a professional Parking and Meter Patrol
agent played by John Heter of Napoleon Dynamite.  He is the ultimate of all
Mega Nerds who is picked on by every parking violator and bully in town and
as a result has no confidence or manhood left in his being.  One day he is
given the card of a Motivational Confidence Builder  who specializes in just
this type of situation and for the sum of $5000, you can partake in his class.
However his approach is far from ethical and this eventually leads to the
apprentice becoming the master.  As John Heter learns the art of manhood,
Billy Bob Thornton gets more and more intimidated and he sets out to tear
down what he has worked hard to build up on his start pupil.  The war begins
when Billy Bob Thornton sets out to steal the affection of the one person that
John Hater has worked so hard to impress.

This is finally the movie that John Hater has been looking for.  A movie that
actually takes him out of the mega nerdism that he plays in every movie and
actually shows that he can not only lead a movie but he can actually play a
relatively convincing romantic role as well.  Half way through the movie, he
loses the squinty eyes and becomes a man, and then you truly see him
blossom as an actor.  I really cannot wait to see the further evolution of John
Heter.

On the flip side, Billy Bob Thornton was horrible as the unconvincing jerk of a
motivational confidence builder and he was far from convincing playing the
straight ladies man.  He appeared far too gay with all of the makeup he was
wearing and his character was just not up to par with his co-star.  He bored
me and I kept thinking of other people who would have fit the role so much
better.

Warning to Parents:
With the exception of a few GDs and a few other words and maybe a couple
off colored jokes concerning Billy Bob’s side kick, the movie was relatively
clean.  It deserves the PG-13 rating because of the off colored jokes but
thankfully they are not too over the top.  I would recommend this movie if you
are just wanting to go out and watch a fun date movie or just looking for some
pretty good laughs.
