| What is the Teen Movie Project: The Teen Movie Project is a new development brought to you by Christian Hotspot, aimed at bringing to light the hidden and overt messages and influences that movies have on teenagers today. Our desire is to help teens understand exactly what they are watching through classroom discussion, group interaction and through submitting their own film reviews for the world to see. As the students start to review movies through the methodology they are taught in the classroom, they will begin to discover more and more agendas the movies are trying to relay to the student. Some of the Topics of Discovery and Discussion: • Positive and negative messages of mainstream movies • How Hollywood attempts to shape current events and the morals of the average teenager. • Subliminal messages movies have. • The sexual agenda of movies today; pre-marital sex, multiple life partners, casual sex, single parents living with their partners, sexual jokes, nudity in movies, women and men using sex as a tool of manipulation and jabs at sex within the marriage. • Disrespect to authority figures as well as parents. • Demeaning of the family unit. • Attack on manhood and womanhood in movies. • Political agendas behind the movies. • The impact of gratuitous violence. • The “extreme” nature of language in movies. • What movies are aimed at teens? • R Rated Influence. • The attack against Christianity in movies. • Contrast between classic movies and modern movies. • When did morals in movies start to change? • The importance of keeping oneself aware of what they are watching. • And other exciting topics. When teenagers start to watch movies critically, with their eyes open on what the movie is really saying, they begin to open their eyes to what Christ would want them to watch. As they actively critic each movie they watch, they learn to get offended at what is wrong and open their eyes to what is right in the movies today. |
